Mark Cavendish is 1/3 with Coral to win SPOTY this year while Darren Clarke, 5/1 2nd fav, is 11/8 to win in the ‘without Cavendish’ market.
Ever since adding his Copenhagen World title to the green jersey win in the Tour de France, the Manx Missile has been at the head of Coral’s market and with little confidence for other candidates, his price has shortened.
“It’s a one horse race as far as the betting goes, punters don’t want to be on anyone else but Cav,” said Coral spokesman Gary Burton, “he has been backed continuously for three months and would be the worst result for us.”
Mo Farah has attracted plenty of interest in Coral’s betting without Cavendish, he is into 9-4, having been 7-2 earlier in the week.
