Live on Skysports 1: Wed 19.45: Charlton are 10/11 favourites with Coral to beat Brentford in the Johnstone’s Paints Trophy.
Still unbeaten after eleven matches, Charlton are five points clear at the top of League One and although boss Chris Powell is set to make changes to his starting line-up for the Johnstone’s Paints Trophy tie against Brentford, the Addicks should still be too strong for the Bees at the Valley.
Coral rate the hosts at 10/11 while the Bees are Ladbrokes’ 7/2 outsiders but Uwe Rosler’s don’t make the short journey to south London in the best of shape having lost 4-0 at home Huddersfield on Saturday and they face an uphill struggle.
With Charlton set to give fringe players an opportunity, it’s risky to predict the extent of a potential victory and in attack, Betfred’s 9/2 first scorer Bradley Wright Phillips fails to appeal on the basis that he could well be one of those rested.
Punters should instead turn their attention to Addicks new boy Yann Kermorgant. The former Leicester striker has only been used as a substitute so far but has struck in each of his last two matches when coming off the bench. Chris Powell might give the Frenchman an opportunity to shine from the start in this one and he’s overpriced at 15/2 with to break the deadlock.
Alternatively, Kermorgant is available at 2/1 courtesy of bet365 to find the net at any stage.
