Live on Skysports 2: Weds 19.45: Manchester City are 13/2 (bet365) to follow Sunday’s 6-1 success with a 2-0 Carling Cup win at Wolves.
It’s fair to say that Manchester City will head to Molineux in the Carling Cup in high spirits after they hammered Manchester United 6-1 on Sunday and although Roberto Mancini is likely to make a few changes for the tie, his buoyant troops are nevertheless on course to rack up another win as Mick McCarthy will also shuffle his pack with the pair’s weekend Premiership meeting in mind.
Boylesports chalk 8/15 against City’s second string overcoming that of the hosts and it would be no surprise to see the visitors also keep the hosts’ attack at bay, Ladbrokes pricing an away win ‘to nil’ at 7/4 and bet365 quoting Mancini’s charges at 13/2 to strike twice without reply as they did against Birmingham in the previous round.
At Goodison Park, David Moyes will field a strong team as his Everton side host Chelsea and the Toffees could well get a result against the Blues, still reeling from Sunday’s disastrous trip to Loftus Road. A home win is available with Totesport at 9/4 but the stalemate at 12/5 (Skybet) is a danger and punters can cover both results at 4/6 via Betfred.
Elsewhere, with no European commitments Liverpool can afford to take the Carling Cup very seriously and they should just about have the edge at Stoke, where they’re 5/4 with 888Sport to nick it.
Meanwhile, Blackburn acquitted themselves well against Tottenham on Sunday yet still emerged empty-handed but they can be rewarded for their efforts as they face Newcastle, bet365 quoting Rovers at 7/4 to ease the pressure on under-fire boss Steve Kean.
