Live on Skysports 1: Sat 10.00: England are basking in their success so India have a chance to strike back and win the 1st ODI at 6/5 (Coral)
England are now the Number 1 Test side, current World T20 Champions and have come off the back of a whitewash series over India so it’s no wonder they are 4/6 with to secure an opening ODI series victory over India at Chester-le-street.
Two things can’t be forgotten though; India are World Champions at this format and following the last 2 Ashes victories, England have gone on to lose the ODI series 1-6. India are a good bet to get things off to a winning start at 6/5 (Coral) in what is more of a litmus test of how England are doing at this level. If India are in the mood, even without the likes of Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma and Virender Sehwag, the 6/4 on them to win the series (Betdaq) will soon disappear.
England played in Ireland recently in an ODI and whilst it was rain-hit, it was a far from convincing win and there seems to be a difficulty for Alistair Cook’s men to find the middle ground between T20 and Test.
Eoin Morgan was important in Ireland and also in the T20 win, he is 4/1 with bet365 to top score for the hosts while Jade Dernbach has been performing well with the ball, he is 4/1 (888sport) to take the most wickets.
India have had hardly any runs from their tail end of late so the big men at the top need to perform. Tendulkar and Dravid have both shown class recently and the former is 10/3 with Stan James to provide a crucial top knock that India can build around and win the opening fixture.
