Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Tuesday; Pampelonne (2.10 New Abb) and Surfer (2.30 Bev). Compare odds.
Mahmood Al Zarooni provided us with a winner on Friday and the in-form trainer, who saddled a double on Saturday and a winner and a second from three runners at Kempton yesterday, can strike with Surfer (2:30) at Beverley this afternoon.
The selection has shaped well on all three starts to date and, with an official rating of 82, he ought to be too strong here under Paul Hanagan.
Down at Newton Abbot, the opening mares’ novices hurdle is a competitive little affair in which the four previous winners have claims, as does smart bumper performer Dream Function.
However, at an each-way price, it may be worth taking a small chance on Pampelonne (2:10) who improved on three runs for Nicky Henderson on her debut for Charlie Longsdon at Bangor last month.
The daughter of Oscar chased home a smart sort that day and on her racecourse debut at Newbury last March she finished behind the classy and then stable-mate Kid Cassidy, so looks more than capable of winning races.
If she jumps proficiently, she could well run a big race on her hurdles debut and, in receipt of weight from three main market rivals, might be up to making the frame.
Tuesday’s selections:
2:10 Newton Abbot Pampelonne (each-way)
2:30 Beverley Surfer
