Former Talksport man Charlie McCann likes the look of unbeaten Coventry Stakes winner Power in the Phoenix Stakes at The Curragh on Sunday.
The Curragh host the weekend Group 1 action on Sunday with Aidan O’Brien looking for his 12th success in the Phoenix Stakes; unbeaten Coventry Stakes winner Power (4.05) was a neck too good for Roman Soldier at Royal Ascot and that colt was subsequently beaten a length by Frederick Engels in the July Stakes last month.
Power was an uneasy market leader at Ascot during a meeting when many of the Ballydoyle runners attracted significant support and the post race discussion hinted that Power may not be the number 1 juvenile at Ballydoyle.
Six weeks on and he remains ‘s 8/1 market leader for the 2012 Guineas and that price will contract if he maintains his unbeaten record on Sunday.
