Pepper Lane and Tax Free have been installed as the 9/1 joint-favourites for this weekend’s William Hill Great St Wilfrid Handicap by Betfred at Ripon after the latest declarations for the six furlong sprint were revealed this afternoon.
Sprint king Dandy Nicholls has won this race twice since 2005 with Ice Planet and Tajneed and Tax Free looked like he was coming back to his best last time out behind Hoof It in the Stewards’ Cup whilst Pepper Lane has been very progressive round the northern tracks for trainer David O’Meara.
“With two victories at Yorkshire’s garden racecourse already under her belt this season, Pepper Lane looks an ideal candidate for the Great St Wilfrid and is almost certain to run a big race for her promising trainer,” said Betfred spokesman George Primarolo.
Paubsa and 2008 winner Tajneed are next in the market at 10/1 with Confessional and Waffle both 12/1 shots.
