Modun is the new 6/1 favourite (from 8/1) for the Betfred Ebor with Betfred despite drawing stall two for Saturday’s race on the Knavesmire at York.
Nine of the last ten runnings of Europe’s richest flat handicap have been won by horses drawn in stall 14 or higher but this hasn’t stopped punters making Sir Michael Stoute’s gelding favourite after the sponsors initially pushed him out to 8/1 following the draw.
“The stats suggest that Modun will struggle to win the Ebor from stall two but it may well be a help rather than a hindrance given that he has to be held up for a late run and Richard Hughes is the ideal man to have on board,” said Betfred spokesman George Primarolo.
Lost In The Moment and Saptapadi have been drawn 21 and 22 respectively and are the joint-second favourites at 7/1. Blissful Moment has been cut to 10/1 (from 12/1) by the sponsors whilst there has also been support for Tactician and the Queen’s runner is now 12/1 (from 14/1) for the big race.
Over at York this afternoon, Best Terms ran out the impressive winner of the Jaguar Cars Lowther Stakes and has been cut to 16/1 (from 25/1) by Betfred for next year’s QIPCO 1000 Guineas at Newmarket.
