Live on ESPN: Thu 19.30: Rangers and Celtic double up at 7/4 (Blue Square) to qualify for the Europa League and Jelavic can net for the ‘Gers.
The season hasn’t even reached September and Rangers are already on the verge of their second European elimination of the campaign following their 2-1, first leg reverse at NK Maribor in the Europa League.
Crucially however, the ‘Gers bagged themselves an away goal in Slovenia and that means they’re 4/6 favourites with to make it through while Stan James quote them at 8/15 to register a second leg victory at Ibrox.
Paddy Power chalk 11/8 against Ally McCoist’s men ensuring safe passage by winning ‘to nil’ and in attack Nikica Jelavic is a tasty 4/1 (Coral) to break the deadlock.
Old Firm rivals Celtic did themselves no favours by drawing 0-0 at home to Swiss outfit FC Sion but the one consolation for Neil Lennon’s charges is that they didn’t concede an away goal. A strike of their own in the Stade Tourbillon will put the Hoops firmly in the driving seat then and bookies acknowledge as much so they’re 8/11 (William Hill) to progress.
A score draw will be enough for Celtic, who are subsequently as high as 21/10 via Stan James to come out on top, but like Rangers they can do enough to reach the group stage and the Glasgow pair double up at more than 7/4 with Blue Square to qualify.
Recommended Bets:
Rangers and Celtic to qualify – 7/4 (Blue Square)
Nikica Jelavic to score first for Rangers – 4/1 (Coral)
