Live on BBC 1: Sat 13.00 & Sun 13.00: The Belgian GP is sure to be an exciting one; Hamilton is 3/1 (Totesport) for more success.
Even during duller seasons, the Belgian GP at Spa Francorchamps can be considered an exciting race so this season’s edition promises to be packed with incident.
Following the three week break, Sebastien Vettel is 9/4 favourite to banish a three-race streak without a win by claiming victory while Lewis Hamilton is 3/1 with Totesport to win the event he claimed last season.
With McLaren enjoying the last two wins before the break, Paddy Power have 13/8 about the Woking team making it a hattrick while Hamilton’s team mate, Jenson Button, is 7/1 with Sportingbet to record back to back wins.
Vettel and Webber will always be threats but Red Bull are yet to win at Spa. Mark Webber is 8/1 with Betfred to break this hoodoo but perhaps a better bet would be Blue Square’s 5/4 about the Australian to finish on the podium. Michael Schumacher, the all time great of Spa with six wins to his name, is pretty large-looking at 4/1 (Paddy Power) to make the top six while short odds backers can have 8/15 (Coral) that the German registers a top ten finish.
Sebastien Vettel is 11/10 with Skybet to take pole position but with just two drivers in ten races winning from pole, it’s perhaps an unwanted accolade. Lewis Hamilton is 4/1 with bet365 to snatch first place on the grid.
Hamilton has a genuine chance to win again in Belgium with a new, competitive McLaren that will enjoy the top-speed sectors at the start and finish of the circuit.
