With the end of an era looming at the close of next week’s Ebor Meeting, William Hill put 4/6 on Charlie Hills for 50 winners in his 1st season.
Charlie Hills – son of legendary trainer Barry Hills – will take over the reins at the famous stables in two weeks’ time, when Hills senior – handler of 50 Group One winners retires.
William Hill make it a 10-1 chance that Charlie emulates his legendary Dad by training a Group One winner in UK or Ireland in 2012, and 4-6 that he manages to notch-up 50 winners in his first full year (Jan to Dec) as trainer. William Hill also offer odds of 10-1 that Charlie notches-up a century in 2012 – a feat last achieved by Barry Hill in 2006.
Charlie Hills is also a 14-1 chance to bag the William Hill Lincoln next March – a race that financed his Father’s first steps into training after an epic gamble on Frankincense was landed in the 1968 running.
Kate Miller, spokeswoman for William Hill, said: ‘’Charlie Hills has been a significant part of Faringdon Place for many years now and has clearly served his apprenticeship with aplomb. We have little doubt that he will bring further glory to this dynasty of achievers.’’
