Carlisle are a tasty 5/4 with Coral to start the League One campaign with a win and Brentford also tempt at 5/6 (bet365).
Despite not being fancied to do much other than hover around mid-table this season, Carlisle look set to get their League One campaign off to the best possible start by seeing off Notts County at Brunton Park.
Greg Abbott’s side have been fairly solid pre-season and have strengthened pretty well while they are generally pretty tough to beat on their own patch. The Magpies meanwhile, struggled last season and have done little over the summer to suggest a huge improvement is imminent, so it’s the Cumbrians that stand out at 5/4 with Coral.
Also set to surprise a few teams this season are Brentford, who can open the season with a victory as they host Yeovil. It could be a tough campaign for the Glovers, one of the favourites for the drop and the Bees can illustrate as much by sending them home empty-handed, a result priced by bet365 at 5/6.
Elsewhere, Sheffield Wednesday have every chance of mounting a serious promotion challenge and can start as they mean to go on by overcoming Rochdale at Hillsborough, where the Owls are 10/11 at William Hill.
Meanwhile, title hopefuls Huddersfield look a banker at 4/6 () as they host newly promoted Bury but for those seeking bigger odds, Chesterfield, who also came up from League Two, look slightly overpriced at 15/8 with Stan James to get the better of Tranmere at Prenton Park.
