Paul Ferguson heads to York for the festival today and opts for Seville (2.30) and Await The Dawn (3.40). Compare odds and bet.
Aidan O’Brien enjoyed a fantastic night in Arlington on Saturday evening and he can plunder the two big prizes on the opening day at York’s Ebor meeting.
Having won the Juddmonte International Stakes in 2008 with Duke Of Marmalade and last year with Rip Van Winkle, O’Brien can strike again with Await The Dawn (3:40) who deserves a crack at Group 1 company after impressive victories at Chester and Royal Ascot, where he took the Hardwicke Stakes.
In the Sportingbet.com Great Voltigeur Stakes Seville (3:05) can gain a deserved first success for the season and strengthen his position at the top of the St Leger market.
The Galileo colt finished runner-up in the Dante here earlier in the year and, after flopping in the Derby at Epsom, he ran stable-mate Treasure Beach to ¾ a length in the Irish equivalent.
He turned the tables on the subsequent Secretariat Stakes winner when second in the Grand Prix De Paris and his Group 1 placed form stands out now he’s back down in grade.
Furner’s Green is another O’Brien runner with strong claims on day one, but the Abomb looks a very strong contest this year.
Wednesday’s selections:
3:05 York Seville (11/8 Paddy Power, Hills, Ladbrokes)
3:40 York Await The Dawn (10/11 Paddy Power, Hills, Coral)
