Live on BBC 1: Sat 13.00: Maria Sharapova is 3/1 (Boylesports) to beat Petra Kvitova 2-1 in the Wimbledon Final and add to her 2004 title.
Sharapova has been in some sparkling form in this year’s tournament and she is yet to drop a set; her outright backers will be encouraged by Sportingbet’s 3/5 for her to win outright while set bettors will be looking to Unibet’s 6/4 on offer for a 2-0 win.
Her opponent, Petra Kvitova, bludgeoned her way through the opening 4 rounds before looking a touch vulnerable at times in the quarters and semis, dropping a set in both, and now contests her first Grand Slam final, her previous best being a 2nd round.
Kvitova is 13/8 with Ladbrokes to lift the trophy and she showed signs of real danger in her previous game with Azarenka but it’s when she switches off that she will have a problem. A third consecutive 2-1 win is 9/2 with bet365.
Wilc Card Sabine Lisicki managed to push Sharapova reasonably hard so perhaps Kvitova can at least take a set (4/7, Skybet) but ultimately Sharapova should edge this one 2 sets to 1, 3/1 with Boylesports, and take her 2nd Wimbledon title.
