Paul Ferguson has two selections on Saturday; Dominant (3.05, York) and Albaasil (3.15, Ascot). Compare odds and bet
This afternoon’s King George looks an absolute cracker, but the best bet as Ascot comes in the shape of Albaasil (3:15) who can defy top-weight in the Deloitte Handicap.
Sir Michael Stoute, who of course saddles Workforce in the big one, looks to have an improving three-year-old on his hands and the Dansili colt was very impressive at Newmarket a fortnight ago.
Richard Hills’ mount is up 10lbs for that latest success and he also has to prove his ability to handle slower ground than he’s been racing on, but he looked a Group horse last time and can take this en route to bigger and better things.
Dominant (3:05) is another who looked a Group class performer when winning with authority at HQ last time and he can take the step up in class in his stride by taking the Sky Bet York Stakes.
The son of Cacique has something to find with favourite Twice Over but he really did look a colt going places last month and, if the rain continues to fall, he should have his optimum conditions for his first start in Group company.
The selection is officially rated higher than only one of today’s rivals (Saptapadi) but he receives a healthy weight-for-age allowance and can make the most of it.
Saturday’s selections:
3:05 York Dominant (10/3 Hills)
3:15 Ascot Albaasil (9/4 Hills / Paddy Power / Ladbrokes)
