MIDSUMMER is usually the time of year when the well-oiled Godolphin operation slips into top gear and ENAK (4.05) could overcome a long absence by lifting Saturday’s Shadwell Beech House Stud Stakes at Newbury.
Frankie Dettori’s mount was kept busy over the winter in Dubai, being denied in tight finishes on no less than four occasions. A former star in Argentina, Enak has his first run in England and this Listed event looks a suitable starting off point.
Richard Hannon has enjoyed several successful tilts at the valuable Weatherbys Super Sprint and EUREKA (3.30) may be the pick of his four representatives. Stable jockey Richard Hughes, just back from suspension, takes the mount on Eureka, unbeaten on both starts at Nottingham and Salisbury.
At Newmarket, DANEHILL DANTE (4.15) should provide an overdue pay-day for his suffering supporters. Hannon’s three-year-old, twice a beaten favourite from four starts, has been found another window of opportunity and ran well here last month, despite being put firmly in his place by Maraheb.
Thirty minutes later, Godolphin’s TAHAAMAH (4.45) can build on his seasonal debut success at Chester last month. His victim at the Roodee, Calaf, has since come out and won in game fashion.
Dettori moves on to Lingfield in the evening for one ride on the Godolphin newcomer ABHAATH (7.25) and his rails pitch is a huge advantage if the ground stays fast.
