Blonde Snapper and Blonde Fletch solidified their positions at the forefront of their events with victories at the William Hill UK Festival of Greyhound Racing at Sunderland.
The most impressive performance of the evening, however, went to Magna Buddy, who shot to the head of the williamhill.com Classic betting (5-1 from 14-1) when recording the fastest 450m time of the night.
Blonde Snapper was cut to 11-2 second-favourite from 7-1 for the Classic following success in the third heat, the same race which saw the surprise elimination of Antepost market leader Blue Artisan.
Meanwhile, Blonde Fletch clocked the fastest stayers time in the williamhill.com Grand Prix, with the sponsors further shortening Mark Wallis’s charge to 5-2 favourite from 4-1.
Lucy Rhodes, spokeswoman for William Hill, said, ‘With an impressive performance from Magna Buddy, surprise elimination of Antepost favourite Blue Artisan and the two Blonde highlights, the opening night had it all, setting things up nicely for the semi-finals on Saturday’
