Live on Skysports 1: Fri 19.00: van Barneveld could push Wade very close at the World Matchplay, Skybet give Barney 2.5 legs at 5/6.
All matches live on Skysports 1:
James Wade and Raymond van Barneveld are the big-hitting quarter final at the World Matchplay in Blackpool, Wade Sportingbet’s 4/6 fav to progess to Saturday’s semi finals.
Following Wade’s crushing 10-0 opening win, Mark Walsh kept him pegged a touch – Wade coming through 13-11 in the end, fighting off a spirited comeback. Barneveld, 11/8 outsider with Stan James, turned on the style in his 2nd round match-up, coming from 7-6 down to beat Paul Nicholson 13-9 and has a chance in this very tight looking quarter with Wade. Skybet give Barneveld a 2.5 leg headstart in this first to 16 contest at odds of 5/6, while bet365 make a Barney 16-14 victory an 12/1 shot.
The last quarter final sees a charged up Phil Taylor turn his attention to Wes Newton. Taylor is just 1/8 to win with Stan James but Newton, his first quarter final at the Matchplay, has a large 5.5 leg handicap, pricing Newton at 11/10 to win (Boylesports). Newton therefore must lose by 16-11 or closer, which is just achievable, especially considering the calibre of his game against Justin Pipe.
