William Hill are sweating over a potential £1million payout should McIlroy, Westwood or Donald win the Open Golf Championship.
From 8am on Wednesday morning, Hills will offer a stand-out 10/1 on the US Open winner McIlroy, who has already been the subject of strong support.
The bookies are also prepared to go a top-price 14/1 about England’s Lee Westwood, while World No.1 Luke Donald is an attractive 12/1 with the same firm.
William Hill are prepared to lay all three to lose £1,000,000 each before adjusting the prices.
Customers in their shops will be offered a minimum of £100 at the above prices, and the odds will be readily available online.
‘As David Haye and Andy Murray proved, being a home favourite is not always the easiest burden to carry. We are taking on the big three and are not going to change the enhanced prices until we have each one for a million pounds,” said Hill’s spokesman Rupert Adams.
