A moderate Monday with the day’s sole selection coming in the opener at Musselburgh’s evening meeting, in the shape of Westlin’ Winds (6:55) who can land the 2m Deloitte Handicap.
The five-year-old was a smart hurdler for Charlie Egerton during his juvenile days and continued to shape well at the start of last season.
Now in the care of Brian Ellison, the Montjeu gelding was backed heavily last time and the lack of a true gallop seemed to play against him.
He remains on a mark from which he can win and, with Simon Walker booked (this is an amateur riders’ race and he rode Los Nadis to win it last year), it looks as though connections are looking to gain compensation for the burnt fingers at Newcastle.
