A small-staking totescoop6 bonus hunter was out of luck on Saturday after his selection Overturn couldn’t replicate his heroics of last year when unplaced in the John Smith’s Northumberland Plate which means there is a rollover of £419,541 carried forward to next week.
The race eventually went to the Reg Hollinshead-trained Tominator who also knocked out the remaining tickets in the win part of the bet which means the pot has now reached £66,043.
Victories for Lily’s Angel, Edinburgh Knight and Jukebox Jury meant that only 103 tickets were left in the bet by the time the Pitmen’s Derby came round but none were on the 25/1 winner which sees the combined pools reach just under £500,000.
“Overturn ran a gallant race for the totescoop6 bonus hunter but couldn’t quite repeat last year’s heroics which means next weekend’s bet could be worth up to £650,000,” said totepool spokesman George Primarolo.
A total of £188,696 was bet into this afternoon’s pool and on a tough day for punters there were only 20 winners of the place fund, each of whom picks up a healthy £1,886.90.
