Rory McIlroy has shot straight to the head of the betting for next month’s Open Championship after his emphatic triumph by eight shots in the US Open at Congressional.
The 22-year-old led from the first round onwards in Maryland, never looking like repeating his Masters implosion and he has been cut to 6/1 by to build on that outstanding performance by also landing the Claret Jug at Royal St George’s.
Lee Westwood is next in the betting at 11/1 with Betfred, ahead of Tiger Woods and Luke Donald, both priced at 14/1 by Coral and Stan James respectively.
