Twelve months on from their worst Royal Ascot in living memory, Ladbrokes are hoping to claw back the cash over the next five days of flat racing.
Ascot 2010 will be remembered as the punters’ paradise as well-backed favourites won day after day to empty the satchels of the bookies who were glad to escape the Berkshire track.
David Williams of Ladbrokes told betrescue.com: “Royal Ascot is one of the key make-or-break events of our year and last year we left the racecourse broke.
“Ryan Moore was our tormenter-in-chief last year. If we get used to seeing him in the Winners’ Enclosure again this week we’ll know we’ve been given another hiding.
“The rain at the weekend was just what we needed. It should help to make things a bit more competitive and we’re hopeful of a few upsets to make up for the pain of last year.”
