The 1,000 Guineas winner, Blue Bunting, is 2-1 fav with Coral for Friday’s Oaks, following the final declarations for the Epsom Classic. Cheshire Oaks winner, Wonder Of Wonders, is next at 4-1, ahead of Havant at 5-1.
“Punters will be pleased that there were no surprises at the final declaration stage for the Investec Oaks, with Blue Bunting firm favourite to complete the Classic double, a position she has held since her Newmarket success,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
“Wonder Of Wonders, ridden by Kieren Fallon, and Ryan Moore’s mount Havant could both be popular on the day, but neither are likely to replace the Godolphin filly at the head of the betting,” added Stevens.
Friday’s other Group One, the Investec Coronation Cup, sees a battle of the sexes between St Nicholas Abbey and Midday. The former is 5-6 favourite with Coral, with Henry Cecil’s star mare priced at 7-4.
“St Nicholas Abbey was hot favourite for an Epsom Group One as long ago as October 2009 (following his Racing Post Trophy win), but although he did not get his chance in last year’s Investec Derby, his win at Chester last month suggested a second top level win was on the cards. In Midday he faces one of the most consistent performers in training, but her wins have come against her own sex, and we favour Aidan O’Brien’s colt to come out on top,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
