Coral bookmakers make Australia the 7-2 favourites to win the 2015 Cricket World Cup after the ICC today announced it’s decision to reduce the total number of teams in the finals from fourteen to ten. England is 5-1.
The announcement is good news for the smaller nations, such as Ireland, Scotland and the Netherlands, who under the change would not have been able to participate.
“Having an additional four places available can only be a good thing,” said Coral spokesman Gary Burton, “for one, it means more turnover, and another, it gives the smaller nations a chance to compete at the highest level, and even cause a huge shock, as we saw when Ireland defeated England in this years event.”
it also means more turnover, and another it means a possibility of a giant killing upset, as we witnessed when Ireland beat England earlier this year.”
The next tournament will be hosted jointly by Australia and New Zealand.
