Live on SS1 & 3: Thu 10.30 & 20.00: Angus Loughran previews this week’s BMW International and Travelers C’ship : Selections:
Rory McIlroy stunned the golfing world last weekend with a US Open triumph by 8 shots that elevated him to one of the most sought after Sportsmen in the World and he has a huge future in Golf, the bookies dodged a bullet as punters still had his April Augusta meltdown in their minds but his response to that makes last week’s triumph even more special and the bookies reaction is to make Rory a top price 6/1 (Betfred) for next months Sandwich Open Championsip.
This weeks action sees The BMW Championship in Munich which is a chance for the mercurial Sergio Garcia to get back to winning ways – if his putting could improve he can compete at top level once again and although it is a big ask, he looks worth taking a chance on this week at 18/1 (Sportingbet).
This course is flat and suits the bombers which gives Dustin Johnson a real chance at 14/1 with Paddy Power on a rare outing in Europe while 30 year old Scot Peter Whiteford at 40/1 (Ladbrokes) is the each way value as he is currently playing some great golf but yet to pick up a decent prize which I think is only just around the corner.
The Travelers Championship on PGA Tour offers a great chance for Nick Watney to get back to winning ways at 16/1 (Boylesports) while Brandt Snedeker at 25/1 with Totesport should also go well.
It would not suprise me to see a big price winner here this week and Paul Goydos at 80/1 (Betdaq) looks overpriced each way in a very open event.
Good luck
Angus Loughran
