Recital has been cut to 7/1 (from 9/1) by totesport for the Derby after justifying 1/2 favouritism in the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial.
Aidan O’Brien’s colt recorded a length-and-a-half victory under Kieran Fallon to deliver yet another victory for Ballydoyle in this race and Recital will now be looking to follow in the footsteps of both High Chaparral and Galileo who both took the Derrinstown en route to winning the Derby at Epsom.
“Recital’s victory in the Derrinstown certainly puts him in pole position at the moment as far as Ballydoyle’s Derby plans are concerned but the pecking order is not quite complete yet as Seville’s performance in the Dante will almost certainly provide the final piece in the jigsaw,” said totesport spokesman George Primarolo.
Looking ahead to York this coming week, Seville has been cut to 5/2 (from 3/1) by the sponsors ahead of the totesport Dante Stakes behind 9/4 joint-favourites Carlton House and World Domination.
“The Knavesmire has had plenty of rain over the past twenty-four hours and this could well suit Seville whose only victory so far came on soft ground at Tipperary,” said totesport spokesman George Primarolo.
There has also been strong support for Seville’s stablemate and Cheshire Oaks winner Wonder Of Wonders in the Investec Oaks and totesport now make her 13/2 (from 8/1) for the fillies’ classic at Epsom.
