Live on ESPN: Sun 20.00: Inter are 3/4 favs (Paddy Power) to beat Palermo in the Coppa Italia final but could be in for a tough fight.
Palermo are basing their season, and arguably their recent history, on this cup final as they take on Internazionale as Stan James’ 4/1 outsiders to win in 90 minutes.
It’s 32 years since the Rosanero contested a Coppa Italia final and they have never won a major trophy but they looked like they meant business as they dumped out AC Milan in the semis over two legs.
Inter present another challenge for Palermo but in a two horse race on neutral ground (in Rome), surely Palermo have a better chance than 4/1 suggests? A draw is within their grasp, 5/2 with Boylesports, while Sportingbet make Palermo 2/1 to lift the cup via any method.
A cagey, drawn first half followed by a Palermo full time victory is 10/1 at bet365 while go 11/2 about draws at the end of the first and second halves. Inter will be many people’s fancy here, they are 7/2 with William Hill to win after a shared first period while a confident ‘win to nil’ is 21/10 with Paddy Power.
Palermo, overall, are a good back at 4/1 and certainly Sportingbet’s 2/1 to lift the cup should not be ignored.
