Live on Skysports 1: Thu 19.45: Free-scoring Peterborough are 6/5 (Stan James) to reach the League One playoff final at MK Dons expense.
MK Dons possess a slight advantage as they head to London Road to face Peterborough, having registered a slender 3-2 success at home in the first leg of the pair’s play-off semi-final and Karl Robinson’s charges are slight favourites at 8/11 with Betfred to progress to next weekend’s final.
The Dons will look to keep things tight and protect their lead, however, that’s easier said than done against a Peterborough side so prolific in attack, particularly on home soil. Darren Ferguson’s charges averaged an incredible three goals per game on their own patch during the season and it’s the threat they pose in attack that can see them through to Old Trafford, an outcome Stan James offer at 6/5.
An astonishing 26 of Posh’s 27 home games in all competitions landed a profit for backers of more than 2.5 goals and it’s hard to ignore those statistics, especially when the first leg saw the teams net five times between them.
Sadly, Coral’s 8/13 is the best price for this clash to also produce at least three and although Stan James post a slightly chunkier 8/11 against the hosts notching at least twice, it could be worth plumping for William Hill’s 7/4 for the game to generate over 3.5 goals. It’s a bet that would have been successful in 17 of Peterborough’s 27 matches at London Road and based on that hit rate, 7/4 is more than fair.
