With forecasters predicting a possibility of rain falling in London on Royal Wedding day, Coral bookmakers have seen a rush of bets and been forced to cut the prices in a couple of related markets.
Rain to fall during the ceremony is now just even money (from 3-1), while a closed carriage on the return journey from the Abbey is into 6-4 (from 6-1).
Coral also saw a run of bets on Kate wearing her hair down on the big day and now go 4-7 (from Evs). While yellow being the colour of the Queens hat is still the best backed selection, having been backed down to 5-4 (from 12-1).
“Rain was a 5-1 chance last week, but the poor forecast has forced us to slash our prices. So like the public, we are hoping for blue skies,” said Coral spokesman Gary Burton.
“Betting turnover on the wedding is incredible at the moment,” added Burton, “and similar to the Grand National, it seems everyone wants a to place a bet of some kind.”
Other significant movers in the betting with Coral are for Kate to wear an ivory coloured dress, 4-5 (from 5-4), the dress train to be under 3 metres, 11-8 (from 2-1) and the BBC viewing figures to be under 20 million, 4-6 (from 6-4).
