Live on ITV 4: Fri 15.30: The 4th installment of the Indian Premier League begins on Friday, the Mumbai Indians are Totesport’s 11/2 favs.
Last year’s losing finalists, the Mumbai Indians, have spent well in the IPL auctions this year, drafting in Andrew Symonds and Davy Jacobs to join Tendulkar, Singh, Pollard and Malinga. Mumbai are deserved 11/2 favs with Totesport, despite losing Zaheer Khan to Royal Challengers.
At 7/1 (Boylesports), Royal Challengers Bangalore are an interesting bet as they have opted to change nearly the whole team. Retaining only Kohli, they have invested well, bringing Dilshan, de VIlliers and Zaheer Khan into the team and will surely be there or there abouts.
Defending Champions Chennai Super Kings are Coral’s 6/1 2nd favs and they have opted to buy back as many of the winning squad as possible. Dhoni, Raina and Hussey will all line up with Morkel and Bravo, creating a pretty formidable line-up.
Deccan Chargers, 8/1 with Sportingbet, will miss Kevin Pietersen but welcome Sangakkara, Duminy and White. The Delhi Daredevils won’t be many people’s fancy at 10/1 (Stan James) as they have lost many star names.
Finally, Rajasthan Royals are Betdaq’s 20/1 rank outsiders. They still possess the hitting power of the likes of Ross Taylor, Paul Collingwood, Shane Watson and Rahul Dravid and even with a penalty of $2m in the auctions, will look to emaulate the underdog win of Deccan Chargers in 2008 and could be worth keeping an eye on.
