Paul Ferguson likes the look of 7/2 shot Last Instalment in the 3.45 at Limerick on Sunday. Compare today’s horse racing odds.
Plenty of interesting runners under both codes this afternoon, especially over in Ireland where they race at the Curragh and at Limerick.
One of the best three-year-old maidens in training, Glor Na Mara, and the returning St Nicholas Abbey are worth paying close attention to at the Curragh, where the bumper looks a really competitive race and one that should throw up plenty of hurdle winners next season.
Limerick’s bumper is also of interest, as the potentially smart Waaheb goes in search of the hat-trick in a race that trainer Dermot Weld has won for the past two seasons.
Like Glor Na Mara and St Nicholas Abbey he will be short, so from a punting point of view the 2m4f Happy Mother’s Day Novice Hurdle, in which three potentially smart youngsters lock horns, makes more appeal.
Lios A Choill has the best hurdle form in the book and caries the silks of J P McManus for the first time today, but in The Real Article and Last Instalment (3:45) he faces a couple of really exciting and unexposed six-year-olds.
The Real Article is unbeaten in three bumpers and won his maiden hurdle back in September. He reportedly needs good ground so deliberately missed the winter months and a bold show is expected from him.
Though Last Instalment needs to prove himself on better ground, he gains slight preference as he created a big impression when winning his point-to-point and his bumper, and he won nicely on his hurdles bow recently.
The son of Anshan gives the impression that underfoot conditions won’t inconvenience him and, while he is thought of as a long-term chaser, he can take this next step up the ladder.
