Tsegaye Kebede is the 5/2 favourite to win the Virgin London Marathon this weekend according to Ladrokes, Patrick Makau is 7/2.
Last year’s winner Kebede heads the market from Patrick Makau at 7/2. Viktor Rothlin is the shorted priced European runner at 12/1 with Andrew Lemoncello Britain’s best chance of a winner at 100/1.
It’s 6/4 that any runner breaks Wanjiru’s course record of 2.05.09 set in 2009 and 14/1 Gebreselaisse’s world record of 2.03.59 is broken.
Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “Last year’s winner Kebede is the one they have to beat. We’re expecting a big run from Makau with Worku a potential superstar in the making. With such a high class field competing this year we think there’s a good chance the record will be broken.”
he added: “Sadly for Britain Lemoncello is our best hope with the odds suggesting a podium finish would be a huge achievement.”
