Huddersfield Giants are now 11/2 with Betfred (in from 7/1) to be Super League regular season winners and 8/1 to win the Grand Final.
An emphatic 38-6 victory at Leeds, their first win at Headingley for over 50 years, sent Huddersfield to the top of the Super League table and prompted Betfred to cut their odds to be regular season winners from 7/1 to 11/2. The Giants are also in to 8/1 from 12s with Stan James to be crowned Grand Final champions as bookies start to take their title credentials seriously.
Wigan and Warrington have both drifted to 9/5 in Sportingbet’s regular season betting despite seeing off Hull KR and Crusaders respectively on Friday but the pair remain favourites for first place and the same applies where the Grand Final is concerned, making the Warriors 11/8 to retain their crown and Coral quoting the Wolves at 5/2 to prevail at Old Trafford in autumn.
St Helens crushing 52-6 success against Wakefield pushed them into second and most firms have shortened their regular season odds, although Betfred keep Saints at 5/1. William Hill meanwhile, have clipped Royce Simmons’ side to 9/2 from 5/1 to emerge triumphant in the Grand Final.
Leeds’ heavy home defeat to Huddersfield moved them out to 10/1 in bet365’s Grand Final betting and their interest in top spot is considered all but over, Betfred making the Rhinos 40/1 to clinch first place. Finally, Castleford are also 40/1, this time with Stan James, after a 26-26 draw at Harlequins and that result saw Sportingbet nudge the Tigers’ Grand Final odds out to 50s.
