Second-placed Huddersfield were the big movers in the Super League betting over the weekend after a comprehensive 29-10 victory over Warrington at the Galpharm Stadium. The Giants were cut from 12/1 to 7/1 in bet365’s regular season betting while Nathan Brown’s side are now 12/1 with Stan James to win the Grand Final.
Champions Wigan, who suffered a shock home defeat to Catalans Dragons, were subsequently nudged out to 6/4 from 11/10 by Boylesports to finish first and they’re also now 6/4 (from 6/5) with bet365 to retain their Grand Final crown ahead of Warrington, a 5/2 chance at William Hill after that loss at Huddersfield.
The Wolves drifted from 6/4 to 7/4 courtesy of Coral to top the pile but St Helens’ odds have headed in the opposite direction following their 34-18 success at Crusaders. Paddy Power have cut Saints to 5/1 from 15/2 after the two market leaders faltered and their Grand Final price is also 5/1, this time with Stan James.
Leeds’ defeat at Hull KR means they’re now given little chance of clinching top spot, bet365 rating them at 22/1 but at 8/1 (William Hill) they haven’t been ruled out in terms of the Grand Final. Meanwhile, it’s Castleford that are the surprise league leaders having won seven of their first eight games and they’re into 22/1 from 80s at Paddy Power to still be in first as the regular season ends. Finally, Stan James have cut the Tigers from 66/1 to 33/1 to win the Grand Final after Sunday’s comfortable 52-20 triumph at home to Salford.
