Live on Skysports 1: Thu 19.00: Angus Loughran previews this week’s US Masters and picks his best bets for the Augusta major.
Phil Mickleson has been the subject of a major Masters gamble since his weekend return to form which saw him land his first Tour Title since his 3rd Augusta triumph last April. William Hill’s 8/1 offer is now best price available.
Tiger Woods has been favourite for every Masters since 1998 is now 12/1 with Coral which looks very fair value. Woods is without a win since November 2009 when he won in Australia, and his best finish in 2011 was tied 10th at Doral when out of contention.
It is the winner at Doral, Nick Watney, I like at 18/1 with Paddy Power (who are paying 6 places). Watney has finished 11th, 19th and 7th in his 3 previous Masters and has improved to a new level in last 12 months and can land his first Major this week.
I expect Lee Westwood 16/1 (bet365), Luke Donald 28/1 (Totesport) and Justin Rose at 33/1 (Boylesports) to go best for England with Rose, who was 5th in 2009 and has led in the first 3 rounds of Masters, the biggest price and the each way value.
Vijay Singh at 100/1 with Sportingbet is a big price each way outsider whom could defy those odds Vijay loves Augusta and should give big price backers a big run.
Recommended Bets:
Nick Watney – 18/1 (Paddy Power, e/w)
Justin Rose – 35/1 (Boylesports, e/w)
Vijay Singh – 100/1 (Sportingbet, e/w)
Good luck
Angus Loughran
