Paul Ferguson likes the look of Wonder Of Wonders in the 2.30 at Leopardstown on Sunday. Early price; 11/8 Paddy Power
I’m never overly keen to back Aidan O’Brien runners this early in the Flat season, as the Master of Ballydoyle invariably gets off to a slow start, but Wonder Of Wonders (2:30) is worth supporting in the opening maiden at Leopardstown this afternoon.
The choicely bred filly ran a blinder on debut last backend, doing her best work late on to get within a length of Manieree, who runs in the 1,000 Guineas Trial later on the card.
A daughter of Kingmambo, out of the high-class All Too Beautiful, she holds entries in both English and Irish Classics and she is a low as 16/1 with three major firms for the Epsom Oaks.
The step up to 1m2f ought to suit her here, as she is bred for middle distances and, if she scores impressively today, don’t be surprised to see her aimed at something like the Musidora Stakes at York in May.
