Paul Ferguson has two selections for Wednesday; Avoca Promise in the 2:10 at Folkestone and Sole Survivor in the 5.20 at Bangor-On-Dee.
Useful Flat performer Cozy Tiger shaped really well on his hurdles debut at Huntingdon in January and is bound to be popular in the opener at Folkestone on Tuesday, but Avoca Promise (2:10) has some smart bumper form to his name and is worth siding with, provided the ground isn’t too bad.
The son of Oscar was just behind subsequent Grade 2 winner Ericht on debut at Ascot, before beating last week’s novice hurdle winner, Raya Star, at Bangor in December.
Charlie Egerton’s six-year-old failed to land a blow under a penalty last time, when only fourth to Champion Bumper favourite Knight Pass, but he looks sure to win races over obstacles. Really heavy ground would be slightly off-putting, however.
At Bangor take a chance on Sole Survivor (5:20) in the concluding bumper, as Paul Webber’s four-year-old showed signs of promise in a Cheltenham bumper on New Year’s Day, before fading under Dominic Elsworth.
The grey is reportedly well thought of and this looks an easier assignment than Kempton or Newbury on Saturday, where he also held entries.
Wednesday’s selections:
2:10 Folkestone: Avoca Promise
5:20 Bangor-On-Dee: Sole Survivor
