With the return of the 2011 F1 Season, Red Bull are Sportingbet’s 5/4 favs to take a 2nd consecutive Constructor’s Championship.
After a tight 2010 season, Red Bull stretched into the lead towards the tail end, culminating in a Brazil one-two and a victory at Abu Dhabi to win the Constructors title by 44 points over McLaren.
Sebastien Vettel and Mark Webber will drive for Red Bull again in F1 2011 and another title looks to be heading Red Bull’s way. Practice and testing have been very positive, so much so that Vettel has committed to 2014.
Down in the McLaren camp, not everything is so positive. Boss Martin Whitmarsh has hardly been singing the car’s praises and drivers Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button have indicated things will be tough. The car could come good during the season but they will be playing a bad game of catch-up and their odds of 6/1 with bet365 reflect this.
Ferrari are to be Red Bull’s main challengers then; Betfred saying 11/4 that they regain the Constructor’s title of 2008. Fernando Alonso was a whisker away from the title last season and Ferrari are very unlikely to be 58 points behind McLaren again and are most likely to overtake them into second place in the Constructors table.
Mercedes could have an interesting season and with great times to their name in testing, will apply some pressure to the ‘big three’. At 9/1 (Betdaq), they are unlikely to win the title but it will be good to see improved lap times from Michael Schumacher. Renault, 40/1 with Stan James, will have a job to progress as their star man Robert Kubica is absent through injury.
