Live on Skysports 1: Tue 08.30: Pakistan are 8/13 with Coral to beat New Zeleand but recent struggles against Canada don’t bode well.
Canada managed to bowl out Pakistan for 184 and a potential slap in the face was on the cards but Pakistan’s bowlers dug them out of the hole pretty admirably.
New Zealand, 2.5 (6/4) with Betdaq, will be looking forward then to facing this Pakistan batting order, hoping for more of the same in Pallekele, Sri Lanka.
The Kiwis were much more accomplished in smashing Zimbabwe by 10 wickets, openers Brendan McCullum and Martin Guptill scoring 186 for no loss between them. Those two are both 7/2 to top score (Ladbrokes and Coral). Bennett didn’t take a wicket in that game but back him to come back here; 4/1 at William Hill to get the most wickets for NZ.
There’s no question Pakistan will be much more of a challenge and Shahid Afridi will be right on top of those Kiwi batsmen. Afridi seems keen on the top wicket taker of the tournament gong (11/8, Ladbrokes) and has taken 14 of Pakistan’s 29 wickets; he is the obvious choice to take the most wickets here at 5/2 (Sportingbet).
As for batting, Ross Taylor is due a big knock, he is 9/2 with Paddy Power while the Pakistan line up is proving a bit tricky to predict and is probably best left.
Overall, this should be a really close run thing with New Zealand upsetting the outsider quote.
