Nicky Henderson is the 6/4 favourite with Coral to be the top trainer at this year’s Cheltenham Festival, with Paul Nicholls priced at 7/4, despite the former ruling Riverside Theatre out of the Ryanair Chase due to injury today. Irish champion Willie Mullins is 8/1 third favouite, ahead of David Pipe and Nigel Twiston-Davies, both 12/1.
Ruby Walsh heads the Top Jockey market at 6/4, with Barry Geraghty his closest rival at 3/1.
“The injury to Riverside Theatre, who had been 5/1 second favourite for the Ryanair Chase, is a blow to connections, but Nicky Henderson still has a powerful team lined up for the biggest four days in the National Hunt calendar, and we just favour him to retain the leading trainer prize he won last year on countback,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
“As far as the top jockey betting is concerned, with the pick of the runners trained by Paul Nicholls and Willie Mullins at his disposal, Ruby Walsh is a worthy favourite to be crowned leading rider again,” added Stevens.
