What A Friend has been cut to 12/1 (from 16/1) to win the Grand National by Coral following the news that the Gold Cup fourth will definitely be aimed at the Aintree marathon.
The Paul Nicholls trained 8-y-o ran a blinder at Cheltenham, and with the news that the horse will run with more than a stone in hand at Liverpool, punters were quick to get on.
“Punters were on early this morning and we were forced to cut the horse, and given the popularity of his connections, we feel the horse will be even shorter come National day,” said Coral spokesman Gary Burton, “and if Ruby Walsh chooses to ride him over current market leader, The Midnight Club, he could very well go off the favourite.”
Elsewhere, Jessica Harrington’s unbeaten Pathfork has attracted money for the 2000 Guineas and has been cut to 10/1 (from 12/1) by Coral.
