England have been eased to 12/1 (from 7/1) with Coral for the cricket World Cup, after Ireland pulled off a shock victory yesterday over the Ashes winners.
Chasing a World Cup record 328 to win, the Irish, 8/1 outsiders at the start, won by three wickets, while in-running turnover hit new levels for the second England match in a row.
“At 111-5, England were 1/500 to win, and the match looked over as an in-running event, but thanks to Kevin O’Brien’s heroics, turnover has ended up exceeding the levels we saw in the match against India, which we were not expecting at the start of play,” said Coral’s David Stevens.
“England looked out of sorts again, and having gained just three points from as many games and been unable to defend 327 against Ireland, it’s hard to see them winning the World Cup now,” added Stevens.
