Paul Ferguson has one tip to start off the week on Monday; Lidar in the 4.30 at Towcester, ridden by Robert Thornton.
Fairly moderate stuff on Monday, but at Towcester it is worth taking a chance that Lidar (4:30) will see out the trip in the 3m SIS 1st For Football Data Handicap Hurdle.
Yet to race beyond 2m4f the six-year-old has looked worth a try over this sort of distance on his last couple of outings and this looks a much easier assignment than he faced on his last start at Doncaster.
Alan King held his charge in very high regard a couple of years back, when he won the valuable DBS bumper and went on to finish runner-up in the Grade 2 at Aintree’s Grand National meeting.
He has since failed to deliver as expected over timber, with his sole success to date coming here 11 months ago. A mark of 120 seems fair and, with the ground in his favour, the chestnut could begin to rebuild his reputation this afternoon.
