Live on Skysports 2: Thu 19.00: Angus Loughran previews this week’s WGC Cadillac Championship in Miami, starting on Thursday.
I fully understand bookies wanting to take on Tiger Woods at present as he has not won since November 2009 in Melbourne Australia but at the WGC Cadillac Championships at Doral in Miami, it is one venue which is made for Woods.
I have witnessed his 3 wins on this course and even though he is clearly not at his best yet, I followed him in a bogey free 2nd round at Emirates Golf Club in Dubai last month and have to think some of what has been written about his game is utter tripe.
Doral is Par 72 with 4 par 5s, a huge advantage to Woods. He is 12/1 (Paddy Power) which is the first time in many years he has been that sort of price at an event of this type.
I might currently be in the minority but i don’t believe Tiger HAS GONE AT THE GAME and have gone for a touch this week on a course where he has consistently delivered over the years.
Phil Mickleson also has a game suited to Doral at at 18/1 (bet365) must be included in your betting portfolio this week he has been involved in some titanic battles with Tiger here over the years.
I like the chances of Nick Watney at around 20/1 (Betfred) while I would not put you off a little each way play on VJ Singh at around 40/1 with .
Martin Kaymer, the new World Number 1, is 10/1 favouite with Ladbrokes in an event which sees the World’s Top 50 ranked players start. Luke Donald is 25/1 (Sportingbet) to repeat his awesome win in Tuscon while US Open Champion Graeme McDowell arrives here on the back of a superb 64 on Sunday which earnt him a Top 6 finish in Honda Classic, Totesport go 14/1 about him.
There are currently a lot of the big names still trying to find their form including Tiger Woods but at 12/1 I have been tempted in to take my chance that this is where he gets back to winning ways.
Good luck
Angus Loughran
