Terrors To Knock Out Motherwell

Live on BBC Scot & Skysports 1: Sat 12.15, Sun 13.15 & 15.30: Dundee Utd are evens (Stan James) against Motherwell in the Scottish Cup.

The Scottish Cup quarter-finals takes centre stage this weekend where holders Dundee United host Motherwell (14/5, Totesport) in Sunday’s live lunchtime kick-off where they are Stan James’ evens favourites.

The Terrors won their last two home meetings with the Steelmen during the last 12 months courtesy of 2-0 and 3-0 scorelines, adding appeal to them winning 2-0 at Ladbrokes’ 7/1. Meanwhile, Partybets’ coupled odds of 17/10 for a 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0 home win is another option.

The fact Motherwell have a superior first-half record to United also brings 19/5 about the visitors holding out until the interval before a home win, while the hosts are 6/5 via Sportingbet to win the second half alone – a period of the match Motherwell won just once in 29 attempts.

Twenty-four hours prior to that tie is Brechin’s encounter with St Johnstone, where the Division Two side are 4.5 (7/2) with Betdaq to cause a shock.

However, St Johnstone got back on the scoresheet last weekend and can carry that momentum on, where they are Coral’s 4/6 jollies to win, and 12/1 with Paddy Power to lift the trophy.

A quote of odds-on to beat Brechin is not surprising considering City are 14 places below Saints in the respective divisions, although they do boast a proud record at Glebe Park, where they lost just once this season. Therefore, a tight encounter could be in store, with bet365 offering 11/4 for the visitors winning by a one-goal margin, while correct-score punters can acquire 7/1 via Betfred about a 2-1 away win.

Aberdeen are 10/1 with Totesport to win the Scottish Cup but have to triumph at St Mirren first where they are Stan James’ narrow 6/4 favourites, and 3.25 (9/4) with Betdaq to take it to a replay.

These two have shared a home victory each so far this season, although the Dons did win three of their four clashes last season courtesy of a one-goal cushion and are 15/4 (bet365) to win by that margin.

Inverness face a stiffer task as they host Celtic on Sunday and are 7/1 with Paddy Power to emerge victorious after 90 minutes.

Those odds could look big, however, judging by their last encounter in November at Celtic, which resulted in a close 2-2 outcome. Another stalemate is 10/3 via Coral, with 2-2 a 25/1 shot (Stan James).

The Bhoys have also conceded in four of their last five away games, which could see the hosts strike first at 11/5, while the promise of goals could see three or more at Betfred’s 4/6.

The only SPL match takes place at Ibrox on Sunday where Rangers are Paddy Power’s 2/7 hotpots to see off fourth-placed Kilmarnock.

The Gers won the last six meetings between this pair, scoring three times in the last meetings, and Sportingbet go 13/10 about the Glasgow giants netting three or more once again.
