The League Two promotion race is hotting up and the trio teams currently occupying those all-important top three places can all do their hopes of going up automatically, the power of good this weekend.
League Two leaders Chesterfield have registered back-to-back away wins and look like a home banker at 3/4 with William Hill against out-of-sorts Morecambe. The Shrimps have lost three out of four and have failed to score in all of those defeats so the Spireites aren’t without appeal at 2/1 (Paddy Power) to combine victory with a third consecutive clean sheet.
After a sticky patch, second-placed Wycombe got back to winning ways on Tuesday, cruising to a 4-1 success against Burton and they can underline their promotion credentials by collecting maximum points at Macclesfield, a result rated by Hills at 6/4.
Admittedly, the Silkmen are unbeaten in four but they haven’t exactly faced the cream of the division in that spell and in general their form is unreliable enough to warrant an interest in the classy Chairboys.
At the New Meadow, Shrewsbury look overpriced at 13/10 (bet365) to send Gillingham home empty-handed. Graham Turner’s in-form troops have moved into third with four wins in a row and they should have enough to outscore the Gills, who are patchy on the road, finding the net regularly but also conceding a bagful, away from home.
