Paul Ferguson has one racing selection for us on Friday – Our Father, ridden by Timmy Murphy in the 1.30 at Chepstow.
After a really taking debut over course-and-distance last month Our Father (1:30) is strongly fancied to follow up at Chepstow this afternoon.
Given a typically educational ride by Timmy Murphy, the grey son of Shantou took the race by the scruff of the neck in between the final two flights and eventually ran out an impressive winner.
David Pipe’s exciting five-year-old should have come on a bundle for that initial racecourse experience and it will be disappointing if the 6lb penalty is enough to prevent him winning again.
The presence of Ian Williams’ Upthemsteps, a winner at Towcester last time, should ensure Our Father isn’t sent off too short and, with a really busy weekend ahead, he is Friday’s sole selection.
