Recession Proof has been slashed to 12/1 (from 40/1) by totesport for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle after winning the totesport Trophy at Newbury this afternoon.
John Quinn’s gelding took the Grade 3 event on only his fourth start over hurdles and edged out Bothy by a short-head, who paid a massive compliment to his Cheltenham conqueror Menorah.
“Recession Proof continued the good run of novices in the totesport Trophy after Get Me Out Of Here’s success last year and he must go to Cheltenham with a huge chance in the Supreme on the basis of that performance,” said totesport spokesman George Primarolo.
Elsewhere on the card, French Opera has been cut to 25/1 (from 33/1) for the Queen Mother Champion Chase by totesport after winning the totepool Game Spirit Chase. Noland held off the late challenges of both What A Friend and Fair Along in the Aon Chase and has been cut to 25/1 (from 50/1) for the Ryanair Chase. What A Friend remains a 33/1 shot for the totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup with the sponsors.
