Paul Ferguson has one tip for today’s racing; he’s opting for Stoney’s Treasure in the 3.15 at Newbury.
Stoney’s Treasure (3:15) has proven costly to follow this season, but I’m giving him one more chance at Newbury on Wednesday.
Alan King’s charge ran a cracker on his chase debut at Fontwell, travelling really well before blowing up in the closing stages.
Sent off favourite here at the Hennessy meeting on the back of that run, he rather disappointed in fourth, but I remain convinced he is capable of better.
The seven-year-old, who has smart bumper form to his name, twice won in testing ground last winter, so underfoot conditions ought to suit the chestnut.
The drop in trip probably isn’t ideal, but the demanding ground will put an emphasis on stamina and he can score at the third time of asking over fences.
